Designing for the field, not the demo

Government software is often judged in a conference room. It is used on a roadside, in sunlight, on a poor connection, by someone with twenty other tasks.

We design for that second setting: offline-first capture, large touch targets, local-language interfaces and workflows that take minutes, not forms.

If a field engineer will not use it on a Tuesday afternoon, it is not finished.
